Backpack Ministry 2018

Backpack Ministry 2018
What is Backpack Ministry?

Backpack ministry is an annual campaign used to raise funds and donations to assemble backpacks filled with school supplies that are distributed to schools within the community to students that are at-risk and unable to afford the supplies needed for school.

How has this ministry impacted the community in past years?

Due to your generosity and help from Thrivent Financial last year, we were able to provide 60 backpacks full of school supplies each to Mark Fine ES, Tony Alamo ES, Aldean Comito Ries ES, Lucille Rogers ES, and Lilly Fong ES. Backpacks were also provided to families of GSLC that were in need.

What is the 2018 goal?

This year, our goal is to provide 275 or more backpacks to schools within our community. While we have remaining funds from the last year’s campaign, our goal is to raise $1,800 to cover the remaining costs.

How can I help?

We’re excited to make this year’s Backpack Ministry even more successful than previous years! You can contribute financially during weekend services by using an offering enveloped labelled “Backpacks” or you can use the online giving here and specify an amount for the ‘Backpack Ministry’. Each $10 donation will cover a backpack and all of the included supplies.

A special thank you to Josh Bever, Store Manager at Walgreens on 6485 S. Fort Apache Rd, for providing special pricing for the backpacks and supplies.
