Operation Christmas Child

LOCATION:

DATE: 11/23/2021     TIME:

Operation Christmas Child has kicked off the shoebox season and Good Samaritan is getting ready! It is time to distribute shoeboxes and get them filled with simple gifts, a lot of love, and most importantly, the message of Jesus’s love for each recipient. Each box becomes a Gospel Opportunity for children in hard to reach places. We will need lots of hands on volunteers, including strong arms and backs to help move flat cartons into an accessible storage area in October, then load filled cartons into semi-trucks during National Collection Week, November 15-22. We will need lots of people to help with receiving, assisting with processing shoe box drop offs, counting and labeling, and loading boxes into cartons during collection week as well.

Bless Children Around the World Without Leaving Home

Now more than ever, children need great joy! You can give boys and girls in need a tangible expression of God’s love through a gift-filled shoebox packed from your computer or handheld device. In just a few clicks, you can select toys and other fun items to include as well as a letter and photo to delight the heart of a child.

Trailers will need to be loaded by able bodied folks who can manage heavy moving with dollies and lifting to stack filled cartons. Likely, loading will take place Friday, Nov 19 – Monday, November 22.

  1. greeting/obtaining donor information and box count
  2. unloading/transporting boxes from donor to building
  3. verifying count and packing cartons
  4. moving and loading filled cartons from building to semi-truck trailers.

HOW:
This will be curb-side collection with COVID19 precautions in place!! Details will be provided for all volunteers.

The following videos are available for all volunteers. The first one is necessary for anyone packing cartons. The second one is pertinent to volunteers who are assisting with the final days of collection week and loading of trailers.
